ABOUT US
Started in 2010 after Squamish Whitewater Paddlers Club closed, Squamish Paddling Club was initially a whitewater paddling club with winter pool sessions for whitewater paddling. In 2014 a collaboration with then Deep Cove Outdoors saw the club co-host the first Canadian Surfski Champs - an event which became the Canadian Downwind Championships in 2018 with the addition of Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Outrigger Canoes.

In November 2018 we introduced a small group of Squamish youth to the kayak stroke on surfskis. In 2019 our 4 person outrigger canoe was delivered and became the anchor boat for our Paddling Families Program - the program which brings youth and parents of school aged children into paddling.

In 2019 the Canadian Downwind Championships was transferred to its own not-for-profit society to allow the Squamish Paddling Club to better focus on development of a Squamish-based paddling community.

Today, we support programs for all to participate: all crafts, all abilities. We support paddling in the community, ocean based safety and education, environmental awareness and community stewardships, and access to storage and marine waterways. As a community, volunteer driven organization, we are continuously striving to grow our programming and welcome ideas and volunteer support from our members.
